Kyiv Academic University (KAU), the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW) and Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) support Ukrainian scientists who had to leave their home country as a result of the invasion by the Russian army. The scholarship program is designed to enable them to continue their research work for at least a limited time in Dresden. In addition to using our own funds, we coordinate funding from the Leibniz Association, the Volkswagen Foundation and the Free State of Saxony. The Ukraine Scientific Scholarship Program Dresden is a continuation and extension the UKRATOP program.

On the 25th and 27th of January 2022, a pitch presentation preparation training was conducted among the winners of biomolecular electronics startup competition as part of the “Booster of innovative projects” incubation program within the Horizon 2020 BIONANOSENS program. This training was coordinated by the Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics of NAS of Ukraine in cooperation with the KAU Science and Technology Center.

Just before the New Year, the Academ.City team analyzed their results and approved the detailed strategy of the further science park development.
Successful operation of any enterprise is impossible without the regular monitoring and planning sessions. During the year 2021 Academ.City team effectively worked on establishing international ties with European scientific and entrepreneurial institutions for further cooperation and introduction of Ukrainian startups to the global market.
On the 17th of December 2021 the Academ.City team paid a friendly visit to the Frantsevich Institute for Problems of Materials Science of NAS of Ukraine and outlined how it could help to commercialize innovations there. One of the goals of the Academ.City project is to build-up an innovative system which will help academic institutions to transform their scientific developments into breakthrough market innovations. Our team diligently performs networking, educational and consultative activities that will gradually unfold the commercial potential of technologies developed in the NAS of Ukraine. The goal of such visits and meetings is to discuss the areas of further cooperation and steps to be taken to increase market readiness level of the scientific innovations.
On the 16th of January 2021 a round table discussion «Technology transfer and IP protection activities within the Association for Academic Cooperation of the Scientific Institutions “Academ.City” took place at the Kyiv Academic University Science and Education Space. We outlined the possibilities of cooperation between Academ.City and the Scientific Research Institute of Intellectual Property of National Academy of Law of Ukraine, defined its directions and procedures, discussed the advanced training programs for Technology Transfer staff at the institutes and other issues.
