The Department of Theoretical and Mathematical Physics is a core department of Kyiv Academic University and based at Bogolyubov Institute of Theoretical Physics of the NAS of Ukraine.
The Department proposes Master of Science and PhD programs in Physics and Astronomy (specialisation 104) in the following areas of fundamental theoretical physics:
- Properties of Dark Matter in the context of the extension of the Standard Model of elementary particles (students participate in research in the SHiP experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), CERN, Geneva, Switzerland).
- Properties of strongly interacting matter arising in high-energy nuclear-nuclear collisions (students participate in research in the ALICE experiment, Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, Geneva, Switzerland).
- Cosmological consequences of the extension of the Standard Model of elementary particles and the modified theory of gravitation.
- Strongly correlated systems in condensed matter physics associated with new materials such as graphene and Weyl metals.
- New methods of mathematical physics for the study of quantum integrated systems in solid state physics and in quantum supersymmetric field theories.
The Department collaborates closely with:
- CERN, Geneva (Switzerland),
- University of Oslo (Norway),
- University of Tours, Tours (France),
- Université Savoie Mont Blanc (France)
Master and Ph.D. students can take part in internships or collaborate during their PhDs in these research centers.
Master students can choose a topic and a supervisor among the employees of the Institute of Theoretical Physics or from other institutes of the NAS of Ukraine.
Below you can find a list of potential supervisors who have expressed the desire to follow KAU students..
