Applied Physics Student School 2019

organized by Kyiv Academic University

on April 24-26, 2019

The School is aimed to demonstrate the advantages of researcher career in physics for the youngest students, the bachelors and masters.

The School is organized as a satellite to the KAU Science Conference and the program features lectures of well recognized Ukrainian and international experts.

Keynote Lecturers

  • Volodymyr Bezghuba, Machine learning and its applications in condensed matter physics
  • Sergey Borisenko, Nematicity and superconductivity
  • Bernd Büchner, UKRATOP and topological quantum systems
  • Oleg Feya, Computer design of materials
  • Vladimir Golub, Ferromagnetic resonance: application for study of magnetic shape memory alloys
  • Helen Gomonay, Spintronics with aniferromagnets and more (to be confirmed)
  • Volodymyr Karbivskyy, Scanning probe microscopy and spectroscopy of nano-structures
  • Oleksiy Kolezhuk, Topological phenomena in low-dimensional quantum magnets
  • Alexander Marchenko, What one can see on the scale of a millionth of a razor blade
  • Anatoliy Negriyko, Lasers in Nobel Prizes and in the Institute of Physics
  • Andrew Semenov, Physical resources for quantum information processing
  • Sergei Sharapov, Graphene and other Diraс materials
  • Denis Sheka, Nanomagnetism: from fundamentals to skyrmionics
  • Vitaliy Tymchyshyn, Introduction to deep learning
  • Alexander Yakimenko, Quantum vortices in atomic Bose-Einstein condensates

The course will be formed by three intensive days of introductory lectures on hot topics of modern applied physics:

  • topological electron and magnetic systems for future spintronics,
  • quantum materials and quantum technology,
  • computer design of new materials,

and by the lab tours at the Institute of Metal Physics. For interested students the tours to other academic institutes hosting KAU educational research departments can be organized.

The students are encouraged to present their research results during the open poster session. Тhe authors of the best selected presentations (3-4 awards), will be awarded by excursions to Dresden, Germany, to the Institute of Solid State and Materials Research (IFW Dresden), within the UKRATOP project.

Registration for students is free until April 16. For more information write to Ця електронна адреса захищена від спам-ботів. Вам потрібно увімкнути JavaScript, щоб побачити її..
